Hertz launches nationwide e-commerce platform for used car sales

Hertz is taking its used car sales fully online. The company announced that shoppers across the US can now browse, finance, and purchase vehicles entirely through the Hertz Car Sales website.

The new platform allows customers to receive trade-in offers, get pre-qualified for personalized payment options, review protection plans, and secure credit approval, all in one place.

Buyers can complete the entire transaction digitally without visiting a dealership.

“Our new e-commerce platform marks a major step forward in modernizing how we serve our customers with a seamless journey from browsing to ownership,” said Gil West, CEO of Hertz.

“By enhancing our digital capabilities, we’re meeting customers where they are and giving them greater visibility into our inventory, easier purchasing processes, and broader access to quality Hertz vehicles.

“This also marks a critical milestone in executing our strategy to make retail our primary car selling channel.”

The rollout builds on Hertz’s recent partnership with Amazon Autos. Initially launched in four pilot cities, the collaboration has since expanded nationwide, making Hertz Amazon’s first fleet dealer.

Through Amazon’s platform, shoppers gain access to a wide selection of vehicles from brands including Ford, Toyota, Chevrolet, and Nissan.

Hertz-certified used vehicles undergo a 115-point inspection and come with a 12-month/12,000-mile limited powertrain warranty, alongside any remaining factory warranty.

Buyers also receive 24-hour roadside assistance, a seven-day/250-mile buy-back guarantee, and flexible financing options. Vehicle history and condition reports are also included.

To promote the initiative, Hertz is teaming up with NFL legend Tom Brady in a national ad campaign launching October 1.
