Target sets ambitious target to drive $15 billion in sales growth by 2030

Target has revealed an ambitious growth plan aimed at generating over $15 billion in sales by 2030.

The strategy includes expanding its third-party marketplace, enhancing product offerings, and opening new stores by 2025.

During a financial meeting in New York, the retailer outlined its strategy following a strong fourth-quarter performance, despite cautioning about challenges in the first quarter.

CEO Brian Cornell emphasized that Target is well-positioned to meet consumer demand for unique shopping experiences while maintaining value.

“Shoppers continue to seek differentiated options and distinctive shopping experiences without sacrificing value, and Target has the scale, strategy and capabilities to support all the ways consumers shop and engage with brands,” he said.

“With gains in consumer traffic, continuing improvements in speed and reliability, and accelerating growth across digital capabilities, we are doubling down on initiatives that scale these capabilities and drive meaningful top-line and bottom-line growth.”

A key part of the strategy involves significantly growing Target’s third-party marketplace, aiming to boost digital sales from $1 billion in 2024 to over $5 billion by 2030.

The retail giant also plans to expand its in-house media company, Roundel, and enhance same-day delivery services.

Target’s investment in its supply chain, including AI-powered inventory management, will further improve product availability and delivery speeds.

In 2025, Target will begin a multi-year push to expand product assortments in categories such as gaming, sports, and toys.

The retailer also intends to launch new products under its owned brands, including a collaboration series for Good & Gather and plans to revamp its pet supplies line.

Additionally, Target is focused on boosting its Target Circle loyalty program, aiming to triple its membership with enhanced benefits, including new travel perks through a partnership with Marriott Bonvoy.
