Ross Stores has opened 19 locations in March, rolling out 16 Ross Dress for Less stores and three DD’s Discounts across 14 states.
The off-price retailer continues to expand, with plans to open 90 new stores this fiscal year, 80 Ross locations and 10 DD’s Discounts.
The company made headway into newer markets, including Connecticut, Minnesota, New Jersey and New York, while DD’s Discounts focused on strengthening its presence in California, Georgia and Texas.
“We now operate a total of 2,205 Ross Dress for Less and DD’s Discounts locations across 44 states, the District of Columbia, and Guam,” said Richard Lietz, executive vice president of property development at Ross.
“As we look out over the long term, we remain confident that Ross can grow to 2,900 locations and DD’s Discounts can become a chain of 700 stores given consumers’ ongoing focus on value and convenience.”
Alongside its aggressive store expansion, Ross has made key leadership changes.
In September, the company promoted Karen Fleming and Karen Sykes to chief merchandising officer roles for Ross Dress for Less and DD’s Discounts, respectively.
In October, James Conroy was appointed CEO, with former chief executive Barbara Rentler staying on as an advisor through March 2027.
Additionally, further C-suite changes are ahead, as CFO Adam Orvos prepares to retire.
He will be succeeded by William Sheehan, currently group senior vice president of finance, who will first serve as deputy CFO before officially stepping into the role in October.
Ross’ continued growth underscores its commitment to brick-and-mortar retail as it strengthens its footprint nationwide.
