Dollar General unveils celebrity-backed home goods push as part of wider store refresh

Dollar General is expanding its home goods offering with a new lineup of branded collections developed in partnership with celebrities and designers, the retailer announced Thursday.

The revamped “Home Valley” section will feature products from Ki by Kathy Ireland, Betseyville, Beverly Hills Polo Club, and Simply Belle by Simply Southern.

The Ki by Kathy Ireland range will debut in over 20,000 stores this summer, with prices starting at $12 for throws, $15 for sheet sets, and $35 for three-piece comforter sets.

A second Kathy Ireland collection is planned for launch in the fall.

The initiative is part of Dollar General’s broader strategy to attract value-conscious shoppers with affordable items from recognisable names.

The retailer said the new home goods are designed to enhance the “treasure hunt experience” that draws customers to its non-consumable aisles.

“We are dedicated to delivering exceptional value to our customers while staying on top of the latest trends,” said Johanna Blankush, senior vice president and general merchandising manager. “These brand partnerships reflect our commitment to keeping our assortment fresh and exciting.”

Other additions include seasonal throws from Betseyville, bedding from Beverly Hills Polo Club, flatware from Farberware, and hydration items from Simply Belle, Hydraflow and Manna Hydration.

The announcement comes as Dollar General doubles down on celebrity collaborations.

Following the success of its initial Dolly Parton kitchen and housewares collection last summer, the retailer is expanding the range to include a summer entertaining line and a holiday collection later this year.

Alongside product expansion, the company is also reconfiguring parts of its store network.

In March, Dollar General said it would close 96 of its core stores and 45 locations of its higher-end Popshelf brand, with several Popshelf stores being converted to Dollar General locations.

The retailer’s first-quarter results showed net sales rising 5.3% year-on-year to $10.4 billion, while net income rose nearly 8% to $392 million.

Dollar General said it plans to remodel roughly 20% of its store fleet annually to support its evolving product strategy.
