JD Sports North America is expanding mobile point-of-sale and endless aisle inventory capabilities across its DTLR and Shoe Palace banners as part of a broader digital store modernization effort.
The two retailers began deploying Jumpmind Commerce and Inventory solutions on Adyen Castle S1E2L Android all-in-one devices across a combined 450 stores nationwide in January 2025.
The mobile devices enable associates to process payments and complete checkout anywhere on the sales floor.
JD Sports recently accelerated the rollout by migrating both fixed and mobile registers at an additional 200 locations to the Jumpmind Commerce platform in a single day, without requiring on-site personnel.
The stores were formerly City Gear locations acquired by JD Sports and are in the process of being rebranded.
In addition to supporting mobile checkout, the platform provides multi-language and multi-currency functionality at the POS and enables “endless aisle” fulfillment through integration with existing order management systems, allowing associates to place digital orders for customers when items are not available in-store.
Makira served as systems integrator on the implementation.
“Our rollout of Jumpmind Commerce Point of Sale across the City Gear stores we’ve recently taken over and will soon rebrand to DTLR is a testament to the platform’s ability to support our business as we continue to scale and expand,” DTLR CEO Todd Kirssin said.
“The agility and speed it gives our teams is exactly what we expected when we partnered with Jumpmind, and they’ve delivered as promised.”
Founded in England in 1981, JD Sports operates more than 3,000 stores across 32 territories worldwide, selling branded sportswear and casual apparel through physical and digital channels.
