Starbucks’ coffee delivery tops $1 billion in annual sales

Starbucks’ delivery business has surpassed $1 billion in annual sales, marking a major milestone for the coffee giant as it accelerates its turnaround strategy in the US.

In its fiscal fourth quarter ended 30 September 2025, delivery sales jumped nearly 30% year over year, executives said.

The surge helped offset what had been seven straight quarters of declining domestic same-store sales, which were flat in Q4.

Starbucks began testing delivery about a decade ago but expanded nationally through Uber Eats in 2020, DoorDash in 2023, and Grubhub in 2024.

Today, most of its company-operated US stores now offer delivery.

While US consumers have been slower than those in markets like China to adopt coffee delivery, Starbucks said the average delivery order is nearly twice the size of an in-store transaction, with more than 40% including food items.

The company’s success comes despite broader restaurant spending pressures, as third-party delivery apps sustain demand through discounts, promotions, and category expansion into areas like grocery and alcohol delivery.

The delivery milestone highlights Starbucks’ progress in modernising its US operations and tapping new revenue streams amid evolving consumer habits.
