Bed Bath & Beyond names former Walmart executive Rick Lockton as digital and technology chief

Bed Bath & Beyond has appointed Rick Lockton as executive VP and chief digital, product and technology officer, effective 3 November, as the company continues to strengthen its leadership team and digital focus.

Lockton joins from Tractor Supply Company, where he served as senior VP of digital. His previous experience includes senior e-commerce leadership roles at Ashley Global Retail and an 11-year tenure at Walmart, where he rose to VP of digital product.

“As we evolve from a pure-play retailer to a complete home ecosystem provider, we remain laser-focused on strengthening our online retail foundation,” said Marcus Lemonis, executive chairman and principal executive officer.

“Rick’s proven success in building digital-first businesses, driving profitability, and scaling innovation aligns perfectly with our next phase of growth.”

In his new role, Lockton will oversee all digital, AI, product, and technology initiatives, with priorities including accelerating online growth, improving conversion rates, and leveraging consumer data to drive value.

Lockton said he was excited to “create smarter, more connected experiences for every customer” while helping to redefine how people experience life at home.

His appointment follows Bed Bath & Beyond’s recent acquisition of the Kirkland’s Home brand, with stores now being converted to Bed Bath & Beyond Home locations. The first debuted in Nashville in August.
