Wayfair adds AI-powered visual search and personalized discovery tools to mobile app

Wayfair is enhancing its mobile app with a suite of AI-driven features aimed at making home shopping more intuitive, personalised, and visually engaging.

The latest updates include AI-based discovery tools, image search capabilities, and style inspiration features, all designed to streamline the customer journey.

The new “Discover” tab delivers a personalised, infinite scroll of AI-generated, shoppable images based on each user’s style preferences.

Users can tap “shop the image” to view visually similar products and explore an expanding gallery of AI-generated room scenes, all powered by Wayfair’s proprietary visual search technology.

In addition, Wayfair’s mobile image search tool now allows customers to snap a photo or upload one from their camera roll.



The AI engine then returns up to 30 visually similar items from Wayfair’s catalogue. On select product pages, a “find similar looks” feature enables further exploration of related styles.

These tools complement the retailer’s earlier 2025 launch of Muse, a generative AI-powered inspiration agent that creates room visuals and links them to shoppable product suggestions and collections tailored to individual tastes.
