NikeSKIMS launch delayed as production issues push back Kardashian-backed line

Fans eager for the NikeSKIMS collaboration will have to wait longer than expected, as the highly anticipated activewear line has been delayed due to internal production setbacks, according to a source familiar with the matter.

Originally slated for a spring release, the launch is now expected later this year, though no new date has been confirmed.

The delay is not tied to supplier or shipping problems, the source noted, and both Nike and SKIMS remain aligned in their partnership. “They want to make sure they take their time and get the products right,” the person said.

Nike first revealed the collaboration with Kim Kardashian’s shapewear brand in February, promising a collection of apparel, footwear and accessories.

The partnership is seen as a key pillar of new CEO Elliott Hill’s strategy to revitalise Nike’s business amid declining sales and a stock price down over 20% year-to-date.

For SKIMS, last valued at $4 billion, the deal represents a major step into the athleisure category.

Nike said the collection was designed to “invite a new generation of women into fitness” with products combining performance and style.

Despite the departure of Heidi O’Neill, a key executive behind the tie-up, the collaboration remains a top priority for both brands.
