E-commerce giant eBay has appointed former PayPal executive Peggy Alford as its new Chief Financial Officer (CFO) following the departure of Steve Priest, effective on May 12.
Moving forward, Priest will take on an advisory role until July 31 to oversee the transition process.
She brings decades of experience to the role, having previously worked in the financial technology sector in PayPal and served in the role of Executive VP of Global Sales and Merchant Services at eBay.
Alford said: “There’s a deep sense of pride in being part of an organization that continues to resonate with so many people around the world.
“What I’m most excited about is the opportunity to help shape what comes next, partnering with Jamie and the leadership team to harness today’s technology in ways that make the experience for customers even more seamless, intuitive, and inspiring.”
Additionally, the company has selected Jordan Sweetnam to oversee the consolidated Global Markets and Product organization as Chief Commercial Officer.
Meanwhile, Mazen Rawashdeh was appointed to manage the Unified Engineering organization in the role of Chief Technology Officer.
The recent C-suite changes are aimed at improving innovation and collaboration as well as developing the company’s technology sector.
Recently, companies have been investing in technological developments, with online US retailers spending an average of $400k on AI developments in 2024.
Jamie Iannone, CEO of eBay added: “We’re making these changes from a position of strength.
“Our leadership evolution is about moving with greater speed, deepening collaboration across teams, and continuing to build the capabilities we need for the future. We believe these changes will drive long-term growth and deliver greater impact for our buyers and sellers.”
The online resale marketplace recently expanded its payment options by teaming up with Klarna to offer flexible payments for customers.
