Gap announced a new investment in San Francisco’s creative industry to expand its support through three initiatives: an artist residency, a live music series, and a wider partnership with Nest.
This builds on the company’s longstanding history in San Francisco and aims to create opportunities for local artists and entrepreneurs.
Gap is set to launch an artist residency and live music series at its 2 Folsom headquarters to create a platform for musicians and visual artists within the Bay Area.
The retailer is set to offer funding, visibility, and a dedicated space for people to showcase their work and have a collaborative area in San Francisco.
Mame Annan-Brown, chief communications officer at Gap said: “San Francisco’s creative spirit has shaped Gap Inc. since we opened our first store here in 1969 and remains at the heart of our business today.
“Artists, makers, and cultural institutions help drive economic vitality, attract talent, build community, and bring cities to life. That’s why we’re proud to invest in the resources, spaces, people, and partnerships helping to shape the city’s next chapter.”
The company is also expanding its partnership with a nonprofit that supports artists, Nest, to bring the organization’s Makers Future Fund (MFF) program to 30 business owners in the Bay Area.
Over the six-month program, participants will receive weekly classes, individualized coaching, peer support, and a $2,500 grant to help them overcome barriers to growth and build more resilience in businesses.
Additionally, the selected participants will attend virtual and in-person events, which include the third annual Gap x Nest Holiday Makers Market on 4 to 5 December, 2026.
This move reinforces the brand’s commitment to supporting local creative development plans, recently launching a Future Creators Program for young adults.
