Aldi has announced a $10m investment in childhood cancer charity Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) as part of its commitment to helping communities.
The expanded funds will help to advance and support the search for a cure for cancer and bring the discounter’s total support for ALSF to over $20m.
Aldi has partnered with the charity since 2019 to help support its mission to find support for families and research for people affected by cancer.
The ALSF has raised over $300m to back 1,500 childhood cancer research projects and programs, according to the company.
Dave Rinaldo, chief operating officer, Aldi said: “As more Americans shop at Aldi than ever before, our commitment to give back continues to grow with us.
“Few things matter more than giving a child the chance to grow up healthy, and I’ve seen firsthand the difference ALSF makes for children and families facing childhood cancer. We’re proud to continue investing in a mission that matters to our shoppers, employees, and communities.”
According to the business, Aldi employees have assisted with fundraising throughout the year and aim to help in raising funds and awareness for childhood cancer.
The employees have also raised over $2m for ALSF family programs since 2022, which aids families in accessing treatment when the care for their child is far from their home.
Liz Scott, co-executive director at Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation said: “Having the commitment of Aldi allows us to plan even further ahead and continue investing in promising research that can lead to better treatments, better outcomes, and ultimately, a cure for childhood cancer.
“Aldi and its employees have been committed ALSF partners since 2019, and we’re grateful to have them with us for this next chapter.”
