Home Depot has named longtime executive Angie Brown as its new executive vice president and chief information officer, tasking her with overseeing technology strategy, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and software development.
Brown steps into the role after nearly three decades with the company, most recently serving as SVP of IT, where she led technology for customer experience, merchandising, supply chain, marketing, and reliability engineering.
“She’s been instrumental in transforming Home Depot’s interconnected experience, making home improvement more modern, seamless and convenient,” said CEO Ted Decker.
Brown replaces Fahim Siddiqui, who became CIO in 2022 shortly after Decker took the helm.
Decker credited Siddiqui with helping modernise the company’s tech infrastructure across stores, supply chains and support centres, though Home Depot declined to share reasons for his departure.
Brown’s promotion comes as Home Depot deepens its investment in AI and digital innovation.
The company has already piloted more than 175 machine learning and generative AI use cases, including the Sidekick app, which uses computer vision to help store associates manage tasks and inventory.
Executives recently highlighted the rollout of internal generative AI tools and information systems to support staff.
Under Siddiqui’s leadership, Home Depot migrated its website to Google Cloud and expanded the partnership to utilise Vertex AI for advanced analytics and model training.
However, the company has remained cautious about AI risks, with Siddiqui advocating strong security governance to avoid vulnerabilities, particularly after Home Depot’s high-profile 2014 data breach and a vendor-related employee data exposure last year.
Brown’s appointment signals continuity in Home Depot’s tech-first strategy, even as leadership evolves.
