Kohl’s technology chief exits the company

Siobhán McFeeney, chief technology and digital officer at Kohl’s, stepped down from her role on Wednesday, 2 April, according to a securities filing.

McFeeney joined Kohl’s in 2020 as senior vice president of technology and was later promoted to the C-suite following the departure of former chief technology and supply chain officer Paul Gaffney.

The company is currently searching for a successor.

Her departure comes amid broader leadership changes at Kohl’s aimed at improving financial performance, including the recent appointment of Ashley Buchanan as CEO.

Buchanan said: “Kohl’s has a tremendous opportunity to build on our strengths, address key areas of opportunity, and better serve our customers every day.

“When examining recent performance, we have fallen short of fully delivering what our customers want and expect from Kohl’s.

“Most of what we need to do is in our control and can be achieved by setting a clear vision and holding ourselves accountable to executing at a higher standard.”

In fiscal 2024, Kohl’s net sales dropped by 7.2% to $15.4 billion, while comparable sales fell by 6.5%. Net income was $109 million, a drop from $317 million in the year prior.

The company has been implementing a turnaround strategy, which includes shuttering 27 locations and introducing a private homeware collection.

The move aligns with Kohl’s broader effort to expand its appeal by offering more affordably priced products aimed at a wider customer base.
