Dollar Tree has announced its plans to rebuild its distribution center in Oklahoma after it sustained damages from a tornado.
The discount retailer is planning to renovate its 1 million-square-foot distribution center in Marietta, which was affected by a tornado in April 2024.
It is expected to be completed by spring 2027 and will serve as a distribution center to over 700 Dollar Tree outlets in the West and Southwest regions in the US.
The new design features technological advancements, with temperature-controlled mechanization and high-speed sortation to optimize the center’s efficiency.
Mike Kindy, EVP and chief supply chain officer, Dollar Tree, said, “This region and the Marietta community are critically important in our supply chain network and will be essential to our future growth.
”We’re proud of the role we’ve played in the greater Marietta community, and we hope to welcome back many associates, bringing the Dollar Tree spirit back to the area.”
Governor J. Kevin Stitt added, “The opening of the Marietta distribution center will bring 400 jobs back to Oklahoma.
“The reinvestment in the community is a testament to the importance of building strong local relationships and furthers our reputation as a business-friendly state.”
The announcement comes on the heels of Dollar General’s decision to sell Family Dollar in a $1 billion deal to Brigade Capital Management and Macellum Capital Management.
Additionally, the discount retailer has been named as one of the top retailers in the US, according to a recent survey taken by shoppers.
